*POSITION DEFINITION:*
This position will serve as a member of the Environmental Health Team, this position provides education, consultation, inspection, and evaluation of programs and facilities that protect the health of the public through environmental protection and controls.
· This position is a trained Environmental Health Generalist, though the focus of daily duties will be for the Sewage and Water program areas.
· Responsible for the operations and management of sewage treatment systems, private water systems, real estate transfer program, campgrounds, nuisance complaints, and vector and pest control.
· Training for generalist knowledge and coverage will be in the food safety program, swimming pools, body art, resident camp, and smoking complaint inspections.
· Responsible for scheduling inspections, conducting inspections or evaluations, follow up inspections, and communication to customers.
· Responsible for proper and thorough documentation of all inspections and communications.
Writes and maintains reports on environmental inspections.
· Implements and enforces health district policies in accordance with standard operating procedures and Ohio rules and regulations in accordance with Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code.
· Participates on committees if assigned by supervisor.
· Participates in required emergency response planning and training.
· Participates in emergency preparedness activities, may be required to work during an emergency, and be accessible 24/7
· Participate in program evaluation through performance management and continuous quality improvement.
· Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science in environmental science; biology, public health, or related field is required; that is eligible to be approved by the Ohio Department of Health to be registered as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist; any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must maintain Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist licensure
May be required to maintain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator license
Must complete required Incident Command System (ICS) courses as assigned
Must hold certification in CPR/AED and First Aid
Must maintain continuing education requirements for REHS licensure
Must maintain Ohio Drivers license and insurability according to Health District Policy
