Position Summary:
The successful incumbent in this position will plan, coordinate, organize, follow up and make decisions concerning human capital, machine utilization, production flow, production methods, overall plant capacity, quality standards, shipping/receiving, material handling and warehousing, master scheduling, material requirements planning, cost containment and Lean Manufacturing.
The Operations Manager will perform the following duties personally or through subordinate leaders.
This position will support and contribute to the company goals of 10-20-4-0 Requirements: Essential Functions of the Job: Provides leadership and strategic direction to the production, material handling, inventory control, distribution, and quality standards, fostering teamwork and a culture of dignity and respect.
Manages and coordinates production, inventory control, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies and procedures established by the VP of Operations.
Develops and executes plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and staff.
Reviews production and product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to manage department operations.
Plans production operations and throughput, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
Collaborates with the Engineering Team to resolve problems and to implement product changes, new products initiatives, and/or new processes.
Resolves operational and manufacturing problems to minimize costs and prevent operational delays.
Works in collaboration with the Maintenance Team to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance and utilization.
Drives continuous improvement processes and directs Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Develops, revises, and documents standard operating procedures and ensures employee on-the-job training and performance comply to the set procedures.
Maintains and enhances profitability of the operation by reviewing production costs, labor hours, and product quality, modifying production and inventory control programs as needed to meet organizational goals.
Ensures all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures are observed.
Establishes clear expectations and standards to maintain a clean and organized work area.
The Operations Manager fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.
Provides guidance and coaching to staff along with opportunities for training and professional development.
Collaborates with the VP of Operations and HR Manager to resolve employee problems, concerns, or grievances.
Collaborates with the Purchasing Team to evaluate materials and alternative resources and help resolve supply problems to maintain quality and minimize disruption to the production schedule.
Stays current on manufacturing tools and techniques, as well as industry and market trends, to ensure Gradall stays up to date with best practices, standards, and procedures.
Works in collaboration with the VP of Operations to develop and analyze operations actual results vs.
budget/forecast.
Reviews discretionary spending requests for all operations.
Works in collaboration with management to improve communications including helping to facilitate meetings related to production, service parts, and performance.
Additional duties as assigned.

Experience leading in a union environment.
Has the ability to understand the application of policy intent and collective bargaining languages, specifically in situations where past practices limited management's rights.
This is a critical skill.
Must be able to workdays, nights, overtime and/or weekends as needed.
May be required to travel occasionally, as needed.
Knowledge of GMS and safety systems to ensure compliance.
