What to expect:
Works with Department Managers on facility staffing, including recruitment, and hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and development of employees.
Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and programs, as well as their consistent application among operations employees.
Manages operations employee performance and ensures timely and accurate performance reviews, recommending the appropriate pay adjustments (i.
e.
, fast track, merit increases, promotional opportunities, etc.
) Leads, trains, and creates a cooperative team-oriented environment where employees are valued and motivated.
Sets goals for key managers and supervisors and creates a plan for succession planning.
Partners with Human Resources on employment-related issues.
Implements and enforces safety programs and maintains a safe working environment that meets OSHA and other regulatory requirements, while working to eliminate risks/hazards.
Establishes measurable goals while achieving and sustaining performance improvements related to employee and equipment efficiency and productivity; report on and provide commentary on key actions to management.
Maintains customer satisfaction by ensuring accurate and timely production of order shipment.
Recommends processes to add efficiency or control costs throughout the operation.
Recommends changes for upgrading or replacing equipment, facility layout modifications, and process and/or workflow changes to continually improve manufacturing safety, quality, efficiency, yield, and lower costs.
Maintains cleanliness and optimal organization in facility.
Participates in the annual budget and planning process preparing justification for major expense and capital expenditure requests and provides input workforce levels.
Provides input for long-range planning and recommends improvements in the operation of the facility and achievement of corporate goals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: Seven or more years of manufacturing management experience.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine performance, time studies, quality control, scheduling, and plant engineering.
Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
Demonstrated time-management skills, strong work ethic, and passion to achieve goals while working within established company standards.
Capacity to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees, management, customers, and vendors both verbally and in written form.
Established ability to manage others with strong conflict resolution skills and willingness to work collaboratively as a team to lead, inspire, motivate, coach, and successfully supervise teams.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including extended hours when required.
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
Resourcefulness in allocation of time, personnel, and inventory with good attention to detail.
Proficiency in use of modern technology, including skill in use of Excel, Word, and e-mail communication.
High level of skill in math, with understanding of business metrics and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or operations management Experience in wood products and/or home building supply manufacturing.
A background in continuous improvement and Lean principles and practices.
Travel Requirements: Travel is primarily local during the business day, and out of the area travel and overnight will be expected.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.
