SUMMARY: The Corporate Weld Trainer will be responsible for performing both hands-on and classroom training of all welders; spanning the diversity of the entire product line.
This position will hold a Certified Welding Inspector license in good standing in order to train and certify current and new incoming welders.
Formal CWI training will be required at an established training program in addition to onsite training.
This person must create, develop, and maintain both technical presentations and the associated Welder Training Database.
Specialty production welding and technical welding support to both Ohio Gratings and outside distributors is expected.
Additionally, this individual will provide support to the Engineering & Estimating Dept.
on an as needed basis.
The trainer will be required to know and implement the NAAMM standards.
This position will be required to study for and pass their certified welding inspector exam within the first year of their employment with Ohio Gratings if a CWI is not already held.
Certified welding inspectors play an integral role in the welding industry.
Their job is to ensure each and every weld they examine is high quality, effective, and most importantly, up to standard with safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: · Train incoming and current Ohio Gratings associates on proper SOPs to complete job processes.
· Assist in the development and maintenance of WPS’s and other auditable fabrication standards · The Quality & Weld Trainer will gain knowledge of galvanizing quality, on-grip process, and quality, as well as acceptable manufacturing standards through onsite training · Serve as an auditor to ensure and maintain compliance of fabrication standards · Work with the product development and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability of new and existing product lines · This requires knowledge of the job travelers that show quantity, grating type, material type, finish, and any special quality notes.
· Training incoming high school students on Ohio Gratings welding standards and procedures.
· Assure all associates are trained/certified (if required) to operate to perform the tasks they are being asked to perform.
· Assist in the training, development, and/or creation of proper training materials as required.
· Actively participate in continuous improvement activities relative to improving key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Shares in idea generation to improve output or efficiency to meet or exceed standards.
· Embrace the 5S methodology and utilize it to build and maintain a quality work environment.
· Drive a culture of safety, quality, ERP, and productivity through area and business efforts.
· Read travelers to ensure quantity, grating type, material type, finish, and any special quality notes are accurate.

· Create and administer instructional and hands-on training · Develop, maintain, and assist in revising all training documentation, records, training database, and procedures as needed to comply with changes to industry and customer requirements · Ensure weld processes and procedures are followed to regulatory, and customer standards · Enforce quality as a key element of customer satisfaction · Train employees on safety practices related to welding and ensure that all safety policies are followed · Support production welding and manufacturing as required · Evaluate and communicate results of tread or other specialty weld tests · Perform any required QCHECKs in the Business Unit · Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality.
· Using gauges such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers to measure products and assure Quality is built into the product.
· Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods.
· Check that the production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with the Customer standards.
· Implement NAAMM standards.
· Knowledge of the IRR process & Update IRR process documents as changes occur.
· Review sales order packets using the five-point checklist application.
· Back up Quality Assurance as needed.
· Must follow all safety guidelines and policies.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: · The trainee would be required to successfully complete a CWI trainee course that is approved with AWS.
· Requires a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Post-secondary education in a scientific field preferred by a technical welding school · ASME Section IX certified welder · AWS CWI preferred · GTAW and GMAW specialists with carbon, stainless, and nickel based alloys · Proficient with blueprint reading and welding symbols · Familiar with entire company product line · Understanding of standard tools, materials, and practices used within the welding industry · Preferred experience 3-5 years as a MIG / TIG Fabricator.
· The candidate must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
· 3-5 years’ experience with a metal manufacturing facility with knowledge of galvanizing quality, on-grip process, and quality as well as acceptable manufacturing standards.
· The candidate must have excellent reasoning skills, be detail-oriented, accurate and complete assignments on time with little supervision.
· Must take initiative and be a self-starter.
· Experience with ERP systems and knowledge of internal processes and procedures is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, push, and pull.
The employee must frequently lift pieces weighing up to 45 pounds.
The employee must use material handling equipment to move pieces weighing more than 45 pounds.

While performing the essential duties of this job the employee will be regularly working on the production floor.
The work environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)_ Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold on a regular basis.
