Cross Industries 2510 Allen Ave SE Canton, OH 44707 PRODUCTION ASSISTANT Canton South manufacturing company has opening in our production department.
This position reports to the Plant Manager and will be involved in all aspects of production of electrical fasteners using small high-speed presses and OBI presses.
REQUIREMENTS * Thorough understanding of tool and dies used in metal forming.
* Very high level of mechanical ability.
* Minimum 5+ years experience with press set-up, production runs and quality inspections.
* Die maintenance experience.
* Ability to use various measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
* Able to read prints to assure quality standards.
* Valid drivers license.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient production runs.
* Maintain a positive attendance record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Must be able to stand and walk for duration of 10-hour shift.
* Bend, twist, and reach.
* Ability to lift to 70 pounds on a repetitive basis.
* Work in a production environment where temperature and noise levels can vary.
JOB DESCRIPTION * Machine setup including dies and tooling.
* Loading raw material into machines.
* Emptying production from machines and inspecting product to assure quality standards met.
* Adjusting machines to assure quality standards maintained throughout production runs.
* Maintain safety standards.
* Maintain monthly raw material inventory for department.
* Machine maintenance.
* Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
SCHEDULE * 40-hour week, Monday-Thursday, 7:00AM – 5:00 PM.
* Overtime may be required on Friday mornings from time to time to meet production needs.

For many years, WW Cross was the worlds largest manufacturer of shoe tacks.
Cross later went on to manufacture rivets for Levi’s jeans, made castings for fire hose components, had a matchbook division, and started making electrical fasteners in the mid 1940’s.
In the early 2000’s, WW Cross was relocated from New Hampshire to Canton Ohio where we continue to produce electrical fasteners.
In 2012, we purchased our largest competitor and moved their production to our Canton facility.
This acquisition made us one of the largest domestically made electrical fastener line.
