The East Central Ohio ESC, a local leader in substance use prevention and mental health promotion, is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced director to oversee school and community based services in Belmont, Harrison and Monroe Counties.
Overview:Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Student Wellness, the Director of Prevention and Student Supports provides overall coordination of substance use, problem gambling and suicide prevention and mental health well-being planning, service delivery leadership and program oversight.
The Director ensures that the program meets compliance obligations in all areas.
The Director provides key local community, regional and state linkages as appropriate for the scope of the prevention programs and policies including for program funding, reporting, ongoing education/training, development and evaluation purposes.
This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent prevention practices.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the procurement of necessary goods and services
Develops of program policy and procedures to meet federal, state and local guidelines
Applies for funding through grants, fees for service and other appropriate means
Develops evaluation and reporting instruments, forms, etc.
Formulates annual program budget:
Works with Board of Advisors by keeping them informed of program functioning and needs
Directs the development and refinement of prevention and intervention services
Supervises Prevention Services Staff
Collaborates and maintains a positive rapport with school district administration and community agency directors and other community entities toward the goal of increased cooperation and coordination of services.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in social work, criminal justice, community health, public health, or directly related social sciences field, which enables the incumbent to understand complex assessment and service delivery scenarios.
Must posses and maintain either OCPS, OCPC, LISW, RN, CHES license or certification or ability to attain such licensure or certification
Minimum of three years of direct service experience with children and youth populations.

Ability to exercise tact and handle information that is confidential, sensitive or controversial.
Ability to assess consumer needs and supervise the implementation of programs and services to meet those needs.
