Under the supervision of an RN performs basic patient care activities.
Assists with skills specifically identified on skills checklists for which training and competency has been established.
These may include but not limited to vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living and patient transfers/transport.
Ten week program and candidate would need to attend required classes.
Maybe eligible for PCNA / CT / Nurse Tech role at completion of program.
Responsibilities:
Assists patients with tending to personal care, activities of daily living and transfers/transport.
Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN.
Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
Maintains personal growth and development through the ongoing process of formal and informal education.
Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace.
Ability to read, write and speak English and to follow oral and written instructions.
Good interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff.
Ability to perform basic mathematics.
If concurrently enrolled in a perspective school course, will be able to perform advanced skills including medication administration and IV therapy under the direction of a preceptor.
The contracted school will have a designated faculty that will participate in the evaluation of the student (NAE) in conjunction with course objectives and clinical requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Enrolled in an accredited BSN Nursing school with less than one year until graduating.
Or Enrolled in an accredited ADN nursing school with less than two classes until graduating.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
None required.
Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
