Safe Harbor Ohio exists to provide restorative care to child survivors of sex trafficking creating environments that spur healing and growth and surround them with therapeutic and spiritual services so they can thrive.
SUMMARY: The Volunteer Director is responsible for coordinating the recruiting, supporting, and valuing of all volunteers at Safe Harbor Ohio working in conjunctions with the directors of each department or their designee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Job-specific essential functions include the following: TEAM FIRST: Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment, maintaining appropriate working relationships and promoting collaboration.
Work with department Directors and/or their designee to determine volunteer needs and centralize the volunteer processes so that there is consistency throughout Safe Harbor Ohio.
Responsible for executing and refining the volunteer process.
Work with Directors and /or their designee to determine volunteer opportunities.
Develop, update, and maintain volunteer descriptions for all volunteer positions.
Identify and ensure successful implementation of appropriate improvements of processes to support volunteerism and improve communication between volunteers and staff.
Ensure that all new volunteer prospects identified are contacted immediately after they express an interest and are placed into the volunteer vetting process.
Oversee the background check process to ensure that background check reports are received from the background check company in a timely manner.
Evaluate background check reports using defined criteria and coordinate the approval process with the Chief Missions Officer/Chaplain.
Review volunteer prospects with Director and/or their designees.
Coordinate the leadership development and training within departments working with the Directors and/or their designees so that required training is completed for all positions.
Coordinate the volunteer appreciation program annually and provide support and guidance as needed.
Work closely with staff to overcome volunteer challenges and evaluate ways we can take our volunteers to the next level.
Continually evaluate our volunteer systems and processes and monitor retention to determine more effective ways to care for our volunteers so they remain committed to volunteering within Safe Harbor Ohio.
Work with Directors and/or their designee to ensure that they are staying in contact with volunteers.
Contact volunteers who decide to discontinue.
If a volunteer leaves a department, find out why.
Conduct an exit interview or assist that department in the exit interview.
Manage the input process of all volunteer forms and information into the appropriate data system.
Work closely with each department on big projects to determine what/how many volunteers are needed.
Manage and oversee the volunteer budget.
Other duties may be assigned.

Thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of Safe Harbor Ohio.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment, as well as cope and tolerate high levels of stress.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: At least 21 years old High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Valid Ohio Driver's License and a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable on agency policy, as job includes occasional travel.
Experience in the volunteer ministry as volunteer coordinator or volunteer leader Experience in or knowledge of the realities of human trafficking preferred.
Strong communication/interpersonal skills and professional demeanor Volunteer relations expertise and proven relationship-building skills High degree of professionalism and confidentiality Ability to analyze volunteer needs and internal processes Demonstrated team orientation, motivation and flexibility Appreciation for and the ability to engage with staff and residents with diverse backgrounds.

Must be able to work on a flexible schedule as needed to meet work, program, and project deadlines.
Be able to pass a drug screening and obtain clear background checks, tuberculosis test or chest X-ray.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical strength and stamina required for prolonged periods of standing.
Regularly able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Must maintain compliance/certification with CCHO/Safe Harbor's requirements for using physical restraints (SCM: Safe Crisis Management), including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training.
Physical ability to respond to crisis, including, but not limited to running and performing physical restraints.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI): All Safe Harbor Ohio staff are expected to focus on Quality improvement as a part of their job responsibilities, in an effort to make Safe Harbor Ohio a safe and healing environment for clients and staff.
This expectation includes, but is not limited to teamwork, improving service delivery, fulfilling department goals, and other job-specific tasks that encourage excellence.
