To manage and coordinate many technical and operational aspects of the theatre productions and theatre facilities including time, personnel and resources.
Reports to designated supervisor.
Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Manage and administer the operating budget for the season.
May schedule productions and related activities in all facilities.
Manage all technical aspects for each production, including the set design, costume design and sound and lighting design.
May evaluate coordinate, and schedule all technical aspects of productions, rental activities, and related activities for the facility.
Supervise technical theatre personnel and students working on productions; make recommendations for hire and to recruit production personnel, both students and professionals.
May train student workforce in all aspects of technical theatre including lighting, sound, rigging, staging, etc.
Oversee production facilities and maintenance.
May schedule and coordinate visits for ongoing technical inspections for equipment and mechanisms.
May approve spending for production materials, technical equipment and supplies.
Serve on committees.
May coordinate off-campus production events of the School and Porthouse Theatre.
May teach courses as appropriate.
Leadership of a small department, unit or major function and/or direct supervision over administrative/professional employees.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: The Production Manager will manage and coordinate technical and operational aspects of the theater productions and theater facilities including scheduling and advancing productions, recruiting and training students and other technical crew members to sufficiently staff the scheduled events.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Theatre; three years of professional production experience, including significant background in theatre and dance production in higher education or academic environment and experience supervising students and staff.
One year experience advancing and staging touring productions may be required for position.
License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Contracts for the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and the Actors' Equity Association Personal computer applications such as Word, Excel and calendar programs Theatre facilities and technical specifications Skill In: Written and interpersonal communication Ability To: Develop and maintain budgets Manage people Write and create contracts for individuals and independent contractors, if required by position Read and interpret contract riders for individuals and performing groups, evaluate them, and make recommendations based on venue specifics, if required by position Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Master's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience as a Production Manager.
Assessments: Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which require assessments Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
Occasionally exposed to dust, dirt, noise and fumes.
