Status: Full Time Salary Position
Schedule: Primarily day shift with responsibilities on all shifts to support as needed.
Part of management weekend rotation.
General Job Summary:
Responsible for management of all Nursing Staff and Resident Care.
Works closely with Social Services Worker and acts as a Physician Representative.
Scope of Job Tasks:
Conducts daily rounds on Nursing Units – analyzes, advises, and delegates nursing management and resident care.
Coordinates daily observations and care planning to effectively provide for continuity of care.
Evaluates care plans and ensures compliance in accordance with Federal and State Regulations.
Conducts environmental rounds quarterly on each unit.
Conducts admission and quarterly care plan meetings on all nursing home residents.
Provides guidance to personnel regarding the nursing process to maintain the highest level of quality care in accordance with Resident Rights and standard nursing practice.
Interprets, investigates, and manages complaint issues and reports to supervisors as needed.
May participate in admissions process through working closely with Social Services Worker and Nurses.
Counsels with residents and families to ensure compliance with care plan.
Coordinates with Dir.
of Social Services to ensure appropriate discharge plans are in place, including necessary education for resident or care giver.
Organizes physician visits according to State and Federal guidelines.
Conducts rounds with physicians as needed.
Acts as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and physicians to support a teamwork approach to resident care.
Utilizes the nursing process to delegate nursing functions in accordance with physician orders.
Analyzes nursing staff performance and conducts evaluations according to State and Federal guidelines.
Initiates disciplinary process, as needed, for nursing staff.
Attends bi-weekly Utilization Review meetings, weekly Management meetings, and Quality Assurance meetings as scheduled.
Performs duties of other nursing management as needed.
Also performs the duties of weekend manager as scheduled by the Administrator.
Coordinates bi-monthly staffing schedules for Nurses, STNAs, and Personal Assistants.
Addresses staffing issues and reports concerns to Administrator.
Conducts interviews with other members of the Management Team for Nursing, STNA and PA positions.
Coordinates STNA training classes, supervises instructors for effectiveness of program and manages orientation programs for new Nursing Department staff.
Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
Must have current Ohio RN license.
Must have the ability to manage nursing care, physician services, and social services.
Must have good written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to communicate as a leader, promote cohesiveness among all employees, and conduct nursing staff evaluations.
Work Experience:
Must have at least 2-years of experience in long-term care, with 1 year nursing management preferred.
Physical Demands:
Good physical and mental health.
Must have ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to do frequent bending and lifting.
Work Conditions:
Works in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated kitchen or in an office.
Atmosphere is warm and humid from cooking foods.
Exposed to sudden temperature changes when entering refrigerators and freezers.
Potential for burns from hot food and utensils, and cuts from knives.
Potential for falls on slippery floors.
Following proper safety standards essential.
