*75% *Assists in a variety of legal proceedings related to juvenile abuse, neglect and dependency cases, and adult protective matters.
Prepares and independently tries child abuse/neglect and dependency including permanent custody cases for trial in juvenile court.
Examines and prepares witnesses (staff, parents, foster parents, children, etc.
) presents legal arguments, evidence and other pertinent trial information.
Appeals decisions as necessary, negotiates with parents' attorneys to avoid trials, issues subpoenas, etc.
Provides legal advice on children services matters to social workers, supervisors and adminstrative personnel.
Prepares legal briefs for court of appeals, memorandums, written objections, motions, orders and opinions.
Conducts legal research of cases involving child abuse/neglect and dependency cases.
*KNOWLEDGE: *23 Law *SKILLS: *25b Word Processing.
*20% *Assures internal control of contracts.
Drafts contracts and other legal documents using competitive procurement as directed.
Develop and negotiate contracts within the service terms identified; provide technical assistance, ensure compliance with contract monitoring and auditing processes and procedures to include a cost or price analysis, asset tracking.
Conduct on-site monitoring of agency contracts.
