The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science, starting August 1, 2024.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our growing department.
Our new faculty member will be expected to teach upper-level courses in our Computer Science curriculum, as well as teach courses across all levels in our Data Science curriculum.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
First and foremost, a successful candidate must have genuine enthusiasm for undergraduate Computer Science education.
Excellence in teaching is an absolute requirement of faculty at Mount Union; additional expectations include professional development, scholarly activity, and service to the Department, the University, and the wider community.
This position includes the opportunity to teach multiple courses in Data Science each year, but it is not a full-time Data Science position.
We are seeking an individual who possesses the necessary expertise and versatility to teach across the entire spectrum of our Computer Science and Data Science curricula.

Mount Union's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers three computing-focused majors: Computer Science, Multi-Platform Software Development, and Data Science and Analytics.
There were approximately 45 students in these majors last year.
The Department also offers minors in five areas of computing: in Computer Science, Database Management, Computer and Network Security, Web Design, and Data Science and Analytics.
Most courses in the Computer Science program meet in a computer teaching lab reserved for the program's exclusive use, providing effective support for a hands-on instructional approach.
This position is required to complete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University.
