JOB SUMMARY: Assist Teacher and Teaching Assistant in providing a nurturing learning environment for preschool children through high quality individual and group activities.
Assist the Health Manager in monitoring health screenings.
Work to support Teacher toward common goals in the areas of Education, Health, Mental Health and Disabilities.
*QUALIFICATIONS* *Education & Experience:* · High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Experience working with 3-5-year-old children.
Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
*Eligibility Limitations:* · Must successfully pass criminal records check and drug screening as per agency and funding requirements.
Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and clearance to drive HARCATUS Vehicles.
Travel throughout the Agency’s service area of Harrison, Carroll, and Tuscarawas Counties in Ohio.
Proof of a physical exam with tuberculosis assessment by a licensed Physician to verify physical and mental fitness for the position at time of employment and triennially unless a medical exam is needed more often.
· Must have the ability to demonstrate the physical demands described here and representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Maintain current training in blood borne pathogens, communicable diseases, child abuse, child CPR, and first aid which is a requirement of all HARCATUS Head Start employees.
· Engage in on-going staff development to meet professional development requirements and improve personal and professional skills, including overnight when necessary.
· Complete screenings including rescreens and data entry of: ¨vision, hearing ¨growth assessments.
· Assist Teacher with scanning and data entry of documentation as outlined in the Scan Plan into ChildPlus.
· Support development and learning of all children, regardless of developmental need, in accordance with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes as well as the Ohio Department of Education Early Learning & Development Standards.
· Collaborate with teaching team to create and implement lesson plans.
Step in to Teaching Assistant role if Teacher or Assistant are absent or unavailable to work in the classroom.
· For classroom with *dual language learners*, recognize bilingualism and biliteracy as strengths and implement research-based teaching practices that focus on English language acquisition as well as continued development of the home language.
· Assist the teacher in changing materials intentionally and periodically to support children’s interests and learning.
· Recognize that all aspects of the classroom day including routines, meal times and outdoor experiences are an opportunity for strengthening development, learning and skill growth and are to be individualized to support the needs of all children.
· Assist with *developmental screenings* to identify concerns regarding a child’s developmental, behavioral, motor, language, social, cognitive, and emotional skills within 45 calendar days.
Assist teacher, as needed, with data entry in Child Plus.
· Assist with standardized and structured *assessments*for each child that provide ongoing information to evaluate the child’s developmental level and progress by recording anecdotal observations and work sample portfolios.
Regularly evaluate assessment data along with informal staff and family observations to determine a child’s strengths and needs, inform and adjust strategies to develop individualized child plans.
· Recognize *parents*’ roles as children’s lifelong educators, and encourage parents to engage in their child’s education.

· Support a program-wide culture that promotes children’s *mental health*, social and emotional well-being, and overall health.
Provide supports for effective classroom management and positive learning environments; supportive teaching practices; and, strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, and mental health concerns.
· Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment and assist Teaching Assistant with cleaning.
*Head Start Bus Professional:* *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIIES* · Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or higher, with School Bus and Passenger Endorsement at hire preferred, required after hire with training and support provided.
· Proof of a School Transportation Driver Medical Examination Form (T-8) to be completed by a certified Ohio Department of Transportation physician designated by the agency at employment and annually unless a medical exam is needed more often.
· Establish/maintain a time schedule and routes for pick-up and delivery of children.
· Adhere to bus driving scheduling.
· Complete bus maintenance on a timely and daily basis.
· Adhere to all transportation policies and procedures while driving bus or other agency vehicles.
