The East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a Career Navigator to work with students and families in pursuing post-secondary opportunities.
By assessing personal strengths and professional goals, this position will work with students to navigate educational and workforce options (i.
e.
, higher education, military enlistment, credentialing/apprenticeships, etc.
).
The Navigator will also assist students in developing work readiness competencies, finding work-based experiences, and securing gainful employment.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
* Valid Ohio license or certification appropriate for the assignment
* Working knowledge of graduation requirements and alternative pathways
* Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
* Valid Driver’s License
*Responsibilities:*
* Builds partnerships with community-based organizations, local agencies, and businesses to develop work-based opportunities for students
* Collaborates with trade schools and higher education institutions to increase interest and opportunities in post-secondary education
* Attends and actively participates in the county Business Advisory Council consisting of industry experts, school personnel and curriculum experts; communicates with members to determine the needs of local businesses and development opportunities for students
* Coordinates and executes K-12 career exploration activities, including business involvement in region-wide activities
* Works with teachers to provide/deliver resources to implement career exploration activities for students
* Creates an annual activity schedule/timeline for career development programs with the assigned district(s)
* Leads district tours with local business leaders to promote the district’s students and areas of study
* Promotes parent/community awareness of local workforce/career opportunities
* Researches and articulates Career Pathways occupational trends as related to college and career readiness
* Coordinates and executes a program/curriculum supported by education and business partners necessary to improve the “soft skills” required for workforce/career readiness
* Develops and communicates to all stakeholders an Annual Report of Progress to share workforce/career readiness strategies
* Assists students in evaluating all post-secondary options including college visits, vocational training, apprenticeship programs, military enlistment, and direct hire into the workplace
* Mentors CCMEP students to ensure all requirements are met for the attainment of the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal upon graduation
* Manages student caseload and works with school district(s) to develop a graduation plan that can be accomplished by each student, based on individual needs
* Participates in parent conferences, program activities and professional development opportunities as directed
