JOB TITLE: *Teacher –Site Administrator*
SUPERVISOR &:

SUPERVISES: Teaching Assistant, Program Site Assistant, Food Service Assistant, Family Advocate, Bus Aide, Volunteers, and Substitutes (center determined).
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, implementation, and management of the Head Start Center, including Site Administrator as required Job and Family Services Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulation.
Supervises all center enrollees and adults.
Participates in a team process to implement the Head Start Program and maintain compliance of the performance standards.
*QUALIFICATIONS * *Education & Experience: * * A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children preferred.
An associate degree in early childhood education; or an associate degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children; or a baccalaureate degree and has been admitted into the Teach For America program, passed a rigorous early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach For America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America's professional staff required.
* Two years teaching preschool children and supervising staff in a pre-school program or equivalent preferred.
*Eligibility Limitations: * * Must successfully pass criminal records check and drug screening as per agency and funding requirements.
Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and clearance to drive HARCATUS Vehicles.
Travel throughout the Agency’s service area of Harrison, Carroll, and Tuscarawas Counties in Ohio.
Proof of a physical exam with tuberculosis assessment by a licensed Physician to verify physical and mental fitness for the position at time of employment and triennially unless a medical exam is needed more often.

* Engage in nurturing and responsive teaching practices, interactions, and environments using developmentally appropriate research based early childhood curricula that foster trust and emotional security; are communication and language rich; promote critical thinking and problem-solving; social, emotional, behavioral, and language development; provide supportive feedback for learning; motivate continued effort; and support all children’s engagement in learning experiences and activities.
* Lead the teaching team in creating and implementing weekly lesson plans that show individualization to children’s goals and area of need.
* For classroom with dual language learners, recognize bilingualism and biliteracy as strengths and implement research-based teaching practices that focus on English language acquisition as well as continued development of the home language.
* Implement well-organized learning environments with developmentally appropriate schedules, lesson plans, and indoor and outdoor learning experiences that provide adequate opportunities for choice, play, exploration, and experimentation among a variety of learning, sensory, and motor experiences.
Include teacher-directed and child-initiated activities, active and quiet learning activities, and opportunities for individual, small group, and large group learning.
Change materials intentionally and periodically to support children’s interests and learning.
* Recognize that all aspects of the classroom day including routines, meal times and outdoor experiences are an opportunity for strengthening development, learning and skill growth and are to be individualized to support the needs of all children.
* In collaboration with each child’s parent and with parental consent, complete or obtain a current *developmental screening* to identify concerns regarding a child’s developmental, behavioral, motor, language, social, cognitive, and emotional skills within 45 calendar days.
Initiate and participate in the referral process as warranted through screening process with parent consent.
* Work in collaboration with LEA to provide needed interventions to support children who qualify for an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
* Conduct standardized and structured assessments for each child that provide ongoing information to evaluate the child’s developmental level and progress.
Regularly evaluate assessment data along with informal staff and family observations to determine a child’s strengths and needs, inform and adjust strategies to develop individualized child plans.
* Complete child attendance as children arrive and depart.
Ensure data entry is accurate in ChildPlus daily.
* Recognize *parents*’ roles as children’s lifelong educators, and encourage parents to engage in their child’s education.
Offer opportunities for parents and family members to be involved in the program.
Regularly communicate with parents to ensure they are well-informed about their child’s routines, activities, and behavior.
Conduct at least two home visits per program year with each family, including one before the program year begins.
Hold parent conferences at least two times per year, to enhance the knowledge and understanding of both staff and parents of the child’s education and developmental progress and activities in the program.
Give parents the opportunity to learn about and to provide feedback on selected curricula and instructional materials.
Inform parents about the purposes of and the results from screenings and assessments and discuss their child’s progress.
* Provide high-quality *health*, oral health, and nutrition activities that are developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate and that will support each child’s growth and school readiness.
* Support a program-wide culture that promotes children’s *mental health*, social and emotional well-being, and overall health.
Provide supports for effective classroom management and positive learning environments; supportive teacher practices; and, strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, and mental health concerns.

*Accuratelycomplete and monitor all ODJFS health related and CACFP forms needed to keep classroom children safe.
Ensure all Center Staff are trained and aware of children that have a health condition that requires monitoring or actions to be taken related to the condition.
Ensure thorough cleaning of the child’s environment indoors and outdoors.
Provide an orderly organized learning environment that prevents and reduces injuries.
Conduct daily health observations of children, reporting concerns to the Health Manager.
Maintain on-going cleanliness of materials, equipment, and facilities and reports any facility concerns in ChildPlus.
* Ensure a *well-run, purposeful program.
*Produce and/or maintain accurate, up-to-date files, inventory, forms, records, monthly reports, and physical environment in accordance with policies and procedures, and performance standards.
Lead Center Communication Meetings with center team as scheduled.
